Within psychology, we speak of "eating disorders" when people experience a difficult relationship with food. They generally have a "wrong view of their body" seeing themselves as overweight, or underweight, when usually they are not. In these situations, they take radical and harmful measures for their health, eating in excess or, on the contrary, depriving themselves of food to correct their body figure. They may face extreme guilt about eating, fear of gaining weight, and an unrealistic body image. These thoughts can interrupt and take over your daily life, withdrawing from your social environments out of embarrassment or avoiding teasing.
This book lists the causes, consequences, and treatments of the main eating disorders.
