This devotional is inspired by the book Prophetic Imagination written by Walter Brueggemann, who suggested that the task of prophetic ministry is "to nurture, nourish, and evoke a consciousness and perception alternative to the consciousness and perception of the dominant culture around us." In performing this task, the so-called prophet influences the community by evoking, forming, and reforming the alternative reality through criticising the dominant and energising the alternative. By doing so, the prophet is taking the lead in actualising the alternative reality. This devotional seeks to discover the leadership principles we can learn from the biblical prophets who ministered in different historical eras of Israel.
