"The Eugenics Covenant" follows a young Australian woman, Morgan who falls in love with an American serviceman Vaughan during World War 2. After moving to the United States to start a new life with Vaughan, Morgan is coerced into an agreement rooted in Vaughan's obsession with eugenics, pressuring her into an ethically troubling arrangement.
The couple travel to the UK for the purpose of finding a suitable donor, someone who is strong, and tall, embodying the qualities Vaughan desires.
Morgan is forced into agreeing to have a child with another man to meet the criteria of a big son. Morgan must decide between her husband and her own values, creating intense emotional turmoil and an enormous pressure on her.
The Eugenics Covenant explores one man's fixation on genetic superiority that leads the couple down a dangerous path unravelling the family. Ironically, despite his relentless endeavours, the beautiful boy remains out of reach, while Morgan and the children suffer the consequences of Vaughan's obsession.
