Recently, simple formulas for analyzing and categorizing chemical clusters were discovered. It were derived from the previously known cluster equations. These equations are given as:
J=VF-12n;
z=J/2-1 and
z+y=n, hence
K*=DzCy is subsequently determined;
where VF = valence electrons of a cluster and n= is the number of skeletal elements in the cluster formula. Thus, knowing VF and n, the categorization parameter is easily determined from which the cluster valence electrons VE and the cluster number K can be calculated. The application of the capping generating index (J) in categoring chemical clusters is demonstrated in this book.
